On this day in 1938, President Franklin D. Roosevelt founded what’s now known as the March of Dimes Foundation to help improve health through research, education and advocacy.

If you are looking for a way to kick off your New Year’s resolution, and burn off a few calories in the process, volunteering with the March of Dimes could be a good way to start.
