ABA's Annual Fly-In
Each year, the American Beverage Association hosts a legislative 'Fly-In,' in which participants from ABA member companies travel to Washington, D.C., for top-level meetings with an impressive group of policy-makers. The Annual Fly-In is a critical opportunity for ABA members to speak directly to lawmakers and tell them how these policies will impact their businesses.
The 2009 ABA Fly-In took place April 29-30 and provided opportunities for ABA members to engage in legislative visits with senators, representatives and congressional staff. During the 150 meetings on Capitol Hill, ABA members were able to update Members of Congress on important issues and effectively drive home the message against taxing soft drinks and highlight our leadership efforts in schools and the environment. Face-to-face meetings such as these provided an unparalleled chance to educate and inform lawmakers, and ABA's Annual Fly-In is fast becoming one of the best avenues for ensuring that the voices of America's non-alcoholic beverage industry are heard.
