As we approach mid-winter and the weather outside is far from heating up in many parts of the country, we’d like to remind our readers to stay hydrated. After all, you can dehydrate just as easily during the cold winter as you can in the warmer months.

Here are some fun facts about hydration that you might not know:

Did you know it only takes a loss of one to two percent of your body’s ideal water content to cause dehydration? Vigorous activity during the winter, such as sledding, skating, snowboarding and skiing, along with the addition of extra layers of clothing can lead to rapid loss of body fluid and can cause hydration more quickly than you think.

Did you also know that high altitude can affect hydration? Higher elevations cause harder and more frequent breathing, resulting in loss of more fluids. So, if you’re hitting the slopes, take a little extra time to make sure you’re well hydrated.

So stay active – and hydrated – during these winter months. Winter has a lot of fun activities to offer, but remember these tips while you’re active. Your body will thank you for it. Please check out our website to learn more about our industry’s myriad products and to find out more about hydration.

This first week of the year can mean a couple things to our readers: some are still recovering from the holiday season, some are getting back into work mode and others are finding it hard to think about anything but how cold the weather became. But, if you’re a football fan like those of us at Sip & Savor, then there is only one thing on your mind this time of year, the NFL playoffs!

Thirty-two teams have battled week in and week out for a chance to make it to the playoffs and ultimately on to the biggest game of the season, the 2012 Super Bowl. Now that only 12 teams remain in the hunt, the stakes are even higher. The excitement unfolds this Saturday as the wildcard games begin and the lower seeded teams match up against each other for a chance to move on.

We hope you’ll tune into the games and cheer on your favorite teams. And when the games are over (or before they start!), get out there and get active. After all, professional athletes would undoubtedly be among the first to tell you about the important role that physical activity and exercise have in an active, healthy and balanced lifestyle. Just take a look at the NFL’s Play 60 initiative.

This weekend, wear your team’s colors with pride. And while you heat up the grill, don’t forget to hydrate with your favorite non-alcoholic beverages and cheer on your favorite teams.

A brisk winter chill in the air and the hustle of weekend present shopping means that the holiday season is upon us. And with all of the pressure to balance year-end deadlines at work with the festive celebrations with friends and family, we know it can be tough to carve out time in the busy schedule for exercise. That’s why we wanted to take a minute to remind you to stay active this holiday season. There’s no reason not to get a jump start on your fitness goals for 2012!

Plus, you can take advantage of Clear on Calories to help you out. By voluntarily putting calorie labels on the front of every bottle, can and pack we produce, we’re making it easier for consumers to make informed choices about the beverages that are best for themselves and their families.

Get out there and have fun with family and friends this December. And don’t forget to stay hydrated!

It’s the first of August, and we have officially hit the dog days of summer. We know as well as anyone how unbearable it can be to leave the house and the cool A/C blast in this heat. However, the endless day-time TV marathons are no way to spend the summer months! We at Sip & Savor have come up with a few summertime day trip ideas that can get you out and get you moving.

Going to a baseball game, whether major or minor league, can be a ton of fun in the summer! Sometimes you can get inexpensive seats in the upper deck on the day of the game at the gate. If sports aren’t your thing, visiting the zoo is another fun summertime day trip.

But, if after all of this you still don’t want to be outside, you can always go to the aquarium or check out a museum. You can even check out museums dedicated to some of our member companies!

So fire up your favorite search engine for a quick Internet search and see what’s nearby.

Remember while you are out: stay hydrated and beat the heat with a refreshing beverage!
