With summer now in full swing and its sometimes oppressively warm weather hitting the east coast, it’s time for a staple of the season–the release of summer blockbuster movies.  This year’s line-up features several highly anticipated, mega-budget films.  Catching a movie can give some a brief reprieve and present a relaxing way to beat the heat.

Whether it’s before, after or while your favorite actors light up the big screen in the comfort of an air-conditioned theater, we encourage you to check out the refreshing selection of beverages that our member companies produce.  Whether it is a soft drink, juice or ready-to-drink tea, it will hydrate and refresh you, and certainly offer relief from the scorching temperatures outside.

To that point, our industry provides many refreshing beverages from which to choose this holiday weekend.  And if you need to bring a homemade dish to a cook-out, our beverages also can be an interesting ingredient to jazz up an ordinary dish – from cherry cola chicken and cola burgers to soda apple dumplings and strawberry lemonade cupcakes.  The options are endless!

Or maybe you could stay home and throw on a classic.  According to History.com, it was this day in 1977 that the first in the series of Star Wars films by George Lucas debuted in movie theaters across the country.  The film ended up winning seven Oscars and grossed hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office, but perhaps most importantly – it won the excitement, hearts and minds of an entire generation of fans.

But whatever you do to stay cool, be sure to get your daily dose of physical activity, too.  And don’t forget to hydrate!
