About ABA

The American Beverage Association

What is The American Beverage Association (ABA)?  The American Beverage Association (ABA) is the trade association for America's non-alcoholic refreshment beverage industry, serving its members for more than 85 years.

In the Spotlight

Past, Present & Future

Founded in 1919 as the American Bottlers of Carbonated Beverages and renamed the National Soft Drink Association in 1966, ABA today represents hundreds of beverage producers, distributors, franchise companies and support industries. ABA’s members employ more than 211,000 people who produce U.S. sales in excess of $105 billion per year. Members market hundreds of brands, flavors and packages, including carbonated soft drinks, ready-to-drink teas and coffees, bottled waters, fruit juices, fruit drinks, sports and energy drinks.

ABA provides a neutral forum in which members convene to discuss common issues while maintaining their tradition of spirited competition in the American marketplace. The Association also serves as liaison between the industry, government and the public, and provides a unified voice in legislative and regulatory matters.

As the national voice for the non-alcoholic refreshment beverage industry, ABA offers information on legislation, science, technology, recycling, water reuse and the law. The staff of legislative, scientific, technical, legal, solid waste and communications experts effectively represents members’ interests.
